Wealden District Council Call for Sites – add your plot of land to the Local Plan evidence base

8th June 2020

On 2nd June 2020 Wealden District Council launched a call for sites.

If you are a landowner, a developer, or an agent then now is the time to submit plots of land for consideration by the council for inclusion as a site allocation in the new emerging local plan.

The consultation lasts from the 1st of June until the 10th August 2020.

The key things that they will be looking for include:

  • Site location;
  • Site size;
  • The current land use;
  • Whether the site is previously developed;
  • How many people own the site;
  • Any relevant planning history;
  • Any previous pre-application discussions;
  • The quantum of development that could be placed on site, both residential and commercial uses;
  • Site constraints including flood risk, land contamination, landscape designations, ecology, and heritage assets.
  • Whether the site is achievable and viable.

We can help on a consultancy basis

We regularly undertake local plan representations on behalf of developers and landowners. We set out a clear evidence base to ensure that the council are left with no doubt that the site is:

  • Sustainable;
  • Achievable; and
  • Deliverable.

Spatial analysis is often the key and all our local plan reps are accompanied by GIS data to visually present the argument.

At the end of the day, 1000s of sites are submitted to the council every year and it is very important for your site to stand out from the rest.

Contact our planning team via enquiries@plainview.co.uk or call us on 01242 501003 to see how we can best assist you. Please provide the site address and a brief overview of your aims. We value your privacy and any information which you provide will not be shared outside of our company and will only be used in relation to your enquiry.

We can also help fund the promotion of the site

Alternatively, via our sister company www.context.land, we can provide financial assistance to proactively promote the site for inclusion into the Local Plan. This can take a wide range of forms: land promotion contract; joint venture; or acquisition. If of interest, contact Ian Woodward-Court (ian@context.land).
