Plainview planning has secured further approvals for an exciting regeneration project in Harlow Town Centre.
This highly sustainable scheme is proposing new homes in the heart of Harlow on a brownfield site.
Having secured planning approval for 33 residential flats and a mixed-use unit on the site in July 2020, the next application dealt with finer design matters and sought an upward extension, erecting a 5th storey to provide 8 new self-contained flats.
Progression of the application and its determination was somewhat hampered by the pandemic. During the determination period, the Council adopted a Town Centre Masterplan (March 2022) which identified the site as a non-designated Heritage Asset. This had an impact on proposals for the proposed additional storey and proposed changes to the facades. But by working effectively and pragmatically with the Planning Officer at Harlow Council, we resolved issues relating to the building’s facades and the upward extension and were delighted to secure the Officer’s recommendation for approval and a unanimous approval at Planning Committee.
The scheme was considered to promote high quality design and to embody the key principles of sustainable development with no significant adverse impact on local amenity or heritage considerations.
