Let's hear it for the small and mighty developments...

One element of our work we particularly love are those projects that are ‘small and mighty‘, perhaps because as a team, that is what we strive to be.

One example is a recent project in the London Borough of Newham where we worked with Archio to secure planning consent for three family dwellings on a highly constrained site. This Passivhaus scheme perfectly demonstrates that beautiful design solutions can exist on every scale.

There can be something rather magical about architecture that fits ‘just so’ in those more challenging sites; indeed, a narrow brief can often spark more creativity than a blank canvas. There is a great sense of intimacy that can be conveyed, with the human scale being the central point.

We are also working on a project in the South West with Barefoot Architects which is an exemplar scheme from a design, climate efficiency, landscape and ecological perspective. Comprising three units, this collaborative project tackles sustainability from all angles; maximising opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint both during construction and its lifetime. A mighty feat for a project of this scale.
