Cotswold District Council ‘Call for Sites’ for potential development is live!

3rd July 2019

Cotswold District Council are undertaking a ‘Call for Sites’ consultation, which seeks the input of residents, businesses and developers to submit a site, or sites, which could be considered for housing, employment, retail, commercial and/or other community uses. The deadline for submissions is Friday 2nd August 2019.

What is the purpose of the ‘Call for Sites’?

This consultation will inform the SHELAA (Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment) and the Local Plan. The SHELAA provides a broad assessment of the development potential of sites across the District.

Furthermore, the Council are also asking those who have previously submitted sites to the SHELAA to use this consultation to reconfirm their interest and update the council on their site.

Cotswold District Council adopted their Local Plan in August 2018 and at the time of adoption were able to demonstrate c. 7.6 years of housing delivery. This latest consultation forms part of their annual review of sites to ensure that they can continue to meet ongoing demand and maintain a deliverable five-year housing land supply.

It is a great opportunity for landowners to have their say on the future of development in the area, and whilst submission of a site through the ‘Call for Sites’ process does not guarantee designation, it could be a valuable the first step towards realising the development potential of your site.

I have a potential development site – how do I get involved?

If you have a potential development site to submit, then you can do so by completing a site submission form here.  Requested information includes a brief description of the proposal, details of the site including key features, potential constraints and solutions, ownership and a scaled map.

However, making an effective submission and providing the necessary evidence to support it can be challenging.  We can add value to your submission by reviewing the development potential of your site and helping you to prepare an informed and strategic submission for consideration.

Further ways in which we add value include:

  • we can help you to understand if your site meets the necessary requirements;
  • using bespoke GIS mapping systems to undertake site specific analysis which will help to highlight the opportunities and constraints of your site or potential sites;
  • assessing the credentials of your site in line with local policy and established national policy;
  • coordinating your promotion efforts to make sure that the Council is provided with persuasive documentation about your site.

If you feel that you may have land suitable for housing or employment development in the Cotswold District and would like expert advice on the best way to promote your site through the Call for Sites consultation, please contact us via enquiries@plainview.co.uk or call us on 01242 501003 to see how we can best assist you, providing the site address and a brief overview of your project. We value your privacy and any information which you provide will not be shared outside of our company and will only be used in relation to your enquiry.
