North Somerset Council Call for Sites

A ‘Call for Sites’ consultation has just been launched by North Somerset Council and will run until the 12th October 2020. This is a great opportunity for landowners, groups of individuals, developers and agents to submit sites to North Somerset Council for potential allocation in the new Local Plan.

All submitted sites will be considered for their development potential and how they might contribute to the plan’s overarching objectives. The key aims are:

Identify any available land that may be suitable for future development
Distribute this land as needed for new homes, jobs, infrastructure, services and facilities

This Call for Sites consultation presents a significant opportunity to put your land forward for development. If you eventually secure a local plan site allocation the future planning applications will be much more straightforward, with the principle of development accepted.

What makes a good Call for Sites submission?

For the Council to be able to make a fair assessment on the suitability of a new site, or to receive updated information on an existing site, they require a Call for Sites form to be submitted. This should include, but is not limited to:

Land ownership details;
Site details;
Site location plan;
Potential uses and capacity;
Site suitability issues and mitigation;
Site availability issues;
Site deliverability issues;
Confirmation of whether the site has been submitted previously
