Plainview Planning have recently submitted an application seeking full planning permission for the alterations and extensions to an existing building to create 6 new dwellings.
The proposed scheme:
The proposal seeks to create 5 x 2-bed and 1 x 1-bed dwellings on the upper levels of the existing building, whilst preserving retail use on the ground floor. At present the upper floors are underused with only a small part providing storage space for the retail unit downstairs.
The proposed development will make use of a prime town centre location and redevelop an underused building of limited architectural merit.
In light of the historic setting, the proposal is very much design led, with findings from historic and architectural research feeding into this design process. The heritage report which has been undertaken as part of the application confirms that the scheme would represent a high quality development that reflects historic examples already represented within the area.
