Redeveloping a vacant factory building into modern flats to rent, Walthamstow

The team at Plainview Planning are currently working on an exciting new residential development in Walthamstow, east London.

The scheme seeks to demolish a vacant and dilapidated factory building on a busy high street and provide a range of quality flats, with retail and community uses on the ground floor.

We are providing full planning consultant support on the scheme, which has been designed by Architecture for London (AFL), an award winning architectural practice who have completed a number of large scale residential design projects.

Situated along Wood Street, which enjoys a diverse mix of industrial, retail and community uses, the proposed scheme will regenerate a derelict site and the proposed ground floor community/retail space will provide an opportunity to offer an active frontage to the streetscene, increasing the choice of amenities and supporting the vitality of the area.

The site is owned by a landlord developer who will be retaining control of the site as a build-to-rent development.  The increasing demand for rented accommodation is set to continue and this development responds to that need. The benefits of the PRS developer is an invested interest in producing a quality build which has longevity to ensure long term lets and tenant satisfaction.

The proposal would facilitate sustainable housing growth by providing further homes in the borough and by prioritising development on a brownfield site.

We look forward to continuing to work positively with Walthamstow Council planning team on this exciting scheme.
