A landlord in Newham, London was being enforced against by Newham Council because they had converted a large house into 5 flats. Initially, we liaised directly with Newham Enforcement team to ensure we fully understood all the issues, and ensure we had the time to prepare an application before any formal enforcement action was taken.
Negotiations were positive, and we proceeded to prepare an application; requiring the gathering of a wide range of evidence from a variety of sources, including statutory declarations (affidavits), Council records, historical records, imagery, utilities, and tenancy agreements.
Under the weight of evidence we managed to gather, the Council had no option but to approve the application. The subdivision of the property into 5 flats became lawful.
