Plainview Planning are delighted with a recent planning permission from Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to allow for the wholesale refurbishment and much needed upgrade of a Grade II* listed residential property, which included a rear garden extension.
The problem
This multi-faceted project required careful negotiation in light of the listed nature of the building and its location within a conservation area. Further site constraints added to the complex nature of the project, as it was located adjacent to a Grade II registered garden, within the Thames Archaeological Priority Zone, and in a Critical Drainage Area and Flood Zone.
The solution
Due to these constraints, the project team came from a wide range of specialisms. We worked pro-actively across disciplines, assisting the architect and historic buildings advisor from scheme inception to final design, advising on the planning merits of all aspects of the proposals.
Our planning consultants also lead on the pre-application, which involved several rounds of consultation and discussion and we provided ongoing advice to the client which directly fed into the scheme.
Working effectively with the project architect ensured we were able to collate a comprehensive application pack which met policy requirements and resulted in the submission of a complex scheme that was supported by officers, validated and approved within 8 weeks.
The outcome
The positive outcome of this project has enabled the required internal and external refurbishment scheme to ensure the longevity of a valuable heritage asset within the Kensington and Chelsea area.
