It was a busy weekend for the Plainview Team as we were at a public consultation event, alongside the architect firm ADP, answering questions, responding to feedback and talking through the plans for the exciting proposed development of land surrounding Great Horkesley Manor.
The proposed development scheme
We are part of the project team developing proposals for 80-residential dwellings, which will also include:
- village open space;
- a Scout & Girl Guides hut, along with storage facilities and associated parking.
The residential scheme seeks to improve the connectivity to the natural landscape areas nearby and will also retain an existing belt of trees to support biodiversity. The proposals also include upgrades and advancements to connectivity to the Essex Way and existing pedestrian crossing points.
The proposals currently being prepared aim to sensitively develop the land around Great Horkesley Manor and, follow the emerging allocation in Colchester Borough Council’s Local Plan as their preferred location for development in the area.
The public consultation event
The event was well attended with around 200 local residents and stakeholders engaging with the project team on the development proposals at the New Village Hall.
The event was crucial to developing the ongoing plans and provided an opportunity for the project team to receive local opinion on a range of key uses, as well as giving the local community an informative forum in which to have their say on the proposals and provide alternative suggestions for consideration.
We would like to thank all local residents and interested parties who attended the consultation event and for the responses provided so far. There has been plenty of useful discussion and feedback from the event, which will now be used to further inform the scheme.
