Plainview Planning have successfully secured planning permission for the change of use of an office (B1) to a health clinic (D1) in Waterloo, London.
The London Borough of Lambeth were initially reluctant due to the loss of office space. The case officer considered that it was not in compliance with local policy, with the site located within the Waterloo Opportunity Area. This case was sensible on every level and was set to be refused by a rigid application of policy.
We respectfully reminded the officer that planning decisions should be made in accordance with planning policy unless material considerations dictate otherwise. We put forward a convincing case focussed on the central tenets of sustainable development – social, economic and environmental factors.
With appropriate conditions, the planning application was approved. Since this approval we have been retained for a further roll-out of facilities across Central London.
